Overview of cybersecurity methods and strategies using Artificial Intelligence

The article ‘Overview of Cybersecurity Methods and Strategies Using Artificial Intelligence’ by O. Lungol examines the current state, challenges and prospects of using AI to ensure the security of information systems. The author summarises the results of numerous domestic and foreign studies, demonstrating how machine learning, deep learning, user behaviour analysis and intrusion detection systems can automate the processes of detecting and responding to cyber threats.

Particular attention is paid to the effectiveness of AI in detecting anomalies, building threat models, and predicting incidents. The growing role of UBA, SIEM, and Big Data for analysing large amounts of data in real time is emphasised. A systematisation of tools is proposed, including a classification of machine learning methods, the use of neural networks and adaptive models.

Statistics show a rapid increase in investment in AI for cybersecurity: the market is estimated to grow by 23.3% annually, and companies implementing such solutions reduce their response time to threats by 27%. However, AI is not without its challenges: there are issues of transparency, accountability, and the possible misuse of AI for attacks. For example, generative models (such as GPT) can be used for phishing campaigns or creating diplomatic fakes.

The author substantiates the need for legal regulation of the use of AI in the security sector, development of ethical standards and enhanced training of specialists. The author concludes that AI should become not only a technical, but also a strategic cyber defence tool – flexible, adaptive and controllable. Integration with IoT, Big Data, and real-time systems is the way to a new security paradigm, where human-technology interaction will play a key role.

O. Lungol’s review covers more than 25 sources, including analytics from IBM, Gartner, Statista, and university research, making the publication a significant contribution to the formation of a modern concept of AI in cybersecurity.
