Final project conference – NOTIONES at TASM 2026

Final project conference – NOTIONES at TASM 2026

NOTIONES (Interacting Network of Intelligence and Security Practitioners with Industry and Academia Actors) is proud to partner with the Cyber Threats Research Centre (CYTREC) at Swansea University to support the Terrorism and Social Media Conference (TASM 2026), taking place on 16 – 18 June at Swansea University’s Bay Campus.

TASM has grown into one of the world’s leading conferences on extremist and terrorist misuse of online platforms. These organisations –  responsible for severe violence, loss of life, and human rights violations –  continue to exploit digital ecosystems, making TASM a crucial meeting point for those working to counter online harms. This year’s edition will welcome 250 delegates from across the globe, including representatives from tech companies, governments, law enforcement, regulators, civil society, and academia. Attendees can expect high‑level keynotes, cutting‑edge research, and cross‑sector dialogue on the most pressing digital security challenges.

As the NOTIONES project approaches the conclusion of its five‑year mission, the consortium’s European law enforcement partners will use TASM 2026 to showcase achievements, share operational insights, and highlight lessons learned in countering online threats. The project has played a pivotal role in strengthening cooperation between practitioners and innovators to prevent terrorism and violent extremism online.

NOTIONES will contribute two dedicated sessions to the conference programme:

  • Day 2 – 17 June: Interacting networks and collaborative clusters to counter terror threats

  • Day 3 – 18 June: Tackling terrorism threats: achievements in Law Enforcement Agency and innovator cooperation

These sessions will bring together research, case studies, and technical demonstrations from across the NOTIONES network. Delegates will gain insights into how security and intelligence practitioners collaborate with academia and industry to address fast‑evolving digital threats. The focus will be on practical knowledge, emerging technologies, and real‑world applications that help build secure, adaptive, and resilient societies.

TASM 2026 offers a unique opportunity for learning and networking across sectors. From understanding terrorist exploitation of online platforms, to analysing the impact of AI on online harms, to exploring effective regulatory enforcement and investigative methods on platforms like TikTok — the conference promises a rich, multidisciplinary exchange. For NOTIONES partners, it is an ideal moment to present key outputs and celebrate the project’s contribution to Europe’s security landscape.
